Wordless Wednesday.

Photos of the moon on Monday evening, thanks to my father-in law telling me I needed to grab my camera and go outside.

Libraries.

February 25, 2013

My sister and I both work at the same university. She's a librarian and I am an executive assistant. About 4 years ago, the library here on campus (thanks to my sister), hired me to photograph both of their locations. They wanted nice, stock-type photos to use for their websites and the like. It was actually a fun job for me and gave me a chance to hang out with my sister. It's definitely a lot easier to shoot a library and all those books, than the babies and dogs that I am used too ;)

Last week, my sister let me know that the library would like to hire me again, because they want new and updated photos. I of course said yes- I'd love to do it again. Part of me is curious to see how I can re-shoot both libraries and produce different photos than I did the first time. I looked for my old photos today, just to refresh my memory and start to get ideas flowing. Just looking through these photos now, I can already think of so many different shots I want to try and do differently than the last time. I'm really looking forward to doing this again- it's a nice change from what I am usually shooting.

Friday Favorites.

February 22, 2013
Hello there, Friday! This week has been a busy week, with work, doing things around the house and also tweaking my blog design a bit. At the beginning of the week, I didn't think I'd even have time to make this week's post, but here it is! Enjoy :)

This recipe for baked french toast sticks- I definitely want to give this a try. I love breakfast- espcially for dinner! (via A Beautiful Mess)

This very easy, DIY tutorial, for making candles using sea shells- this would be pretty for a romantic, candle-lit dinner, don't you think? (via Design*Sponge)

This really cute dog tattoo, by the talented Emily Rose Murray

This other really great dog tattoo, by Nick Friederich

This mason jar lid, with an opening for a straw so that you can drink out of mason jars a little easier (and cuter!). This is similar to the Cuppow that I've posted about before (and that I own), but for some reason I think I like this version better. (via The Mason Bar Company)

This awesome (and temporary/easy to change and remove) gold, chevron wallpaper (via Urban Outfitters)

Not-so-wordless Wednesday.

February 20, 2013
Today I bring you photos of model Kate Upton, for today's not-so-wordless Wednesday post. Because of her size (aka she is not a size zero, the standard in the modeling industry), Kate causes drama every time she lands a magazine cover. These year she was chosen as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition cover model (for the second year in a row) and has also been on the cover of Vogue UK and Vogue Italia within the past six months, to name a few.

I personally find Kate to be very pretty and have a lovely, curvy, voluptuous body. Unfortunately there are many people that do not share my same feelings. When Kate was chosen as this years SI cover model and the image was released to the media, the comments I was reading online (mostly regarding her size) absolutely saddened and disgusted me. No Kate isn't "perfect" (well, society's idea of perfect) but I personally would much rather see her on the cover of a magazine, than a model that looks like she hasn't eaten in ten years and is so thin, that she might break in half if you hug her too hard. It breaks my heart every time I read an article online or read comments by people, saying how Kate is fat, a cow, or too huge to be on the cover of a magazine. If Kate is a cow, then sign me up! I want to be as "fat" as Kate!

Friday Favorites.

Happy Friday! Being that yesterday was Valentine's Day, I decided that today's post would be "love-themed." Single, or in a relationship- hopefully you had a nice day yesterday. Unfortunately Mike is traveling, so I spent Valentine's Day with Riley. I took her to the park and to Petco on a "date." Even though Mike wasn't here to celebrate with me (us!), I still had a nice time with my girl. I am pretty sure that you'll like the things I've found for you, because I sure do. I wish I could buy all of these prints right now! Enjoy:
