HAWAII, days 1 and 2.

November 20, 2012
Finally: a Hawaii photo post! Today I bring you days 1-2. Day one is really "night one" as we flew all day and were so tired all we had the energy for that first night, was dinner. Day two was spent driving around part of the southern Oahu coast.

We left Miami at 6 in the morning, flew a couple hours to Dallas and then the rest of the way to Honolulu. By the time we got to our hotel and checked in, it was pretty late (well dinner time anyway) and we were exhausted and jet-lagged. We decided it was best to just grab some dinner and get to bed early- so we could wake up rested and ready to go the next morning.

After a good night's sleep, we woke up refreshed and decided to head out for a drive around the southern coast (Leeward Coast) of Oahu. We literally drove until the road ended (about 30 miles from Waikiki, where our hotel was) and we couldn't drive any further. We stopped at a few beaches and also just stopped and pulled over anywhere that looked pretty. We also found a pretty neat cave on the side of a mountain, which was interesting.

This is the view from our balcony in our hotel (click for a bigger view). To the left are the mountains and to the right, you can see the Ala Moana Beach in the distance. This was the beach we hung out at every single day, to relax after our days of sight-seeing.

Whew! I didn't fall ;)

(I messed up my camera settings for these photos, which is why the "whites" are SO white)

We kept waiting for the waves to crash behind him but they never came up very high.

Mike saw a tiny fish in of the tide pools, that of course he had to "rescue."

After our drive on the coast, we came back to what became "our beach" and hung out for the rest of the afternoon. The white building in the distance, there towards the right, is our hotel.

I don't know how Mike was able to stand the cold water. I was not prepared for how COLD the Pacific ocean is, compared to the Atlantic that I am used to.

  1. OMG gorgeous! (you and mike and hawaii) It looks amazing. I need to add this to my must go list.

  2. Your trip looks like so much fun! I'm so jealous. I wish we were in Hawaii, haha. ♥Lindsay
